A desktop learning tool that lives on your screen — so the knowledge comes to you, not the other way around.
The Idea
Most learning apps demand your full attention. You have to open them, find time, sit down and study. But real life is busy — and that study session you planned keeps getting pushed to tomorrow.
TheFlashMate takes a different approach. It places transparent overlays directly on your screen — subtle enough not to disturb your work, but visible enough that you absorb new information throughout the day. Vocabulary words, flashcards, reminders, and motivational quotes appear while you code, browse, or answer emails.
No extra windows. No separate study time. You learn passively, simply by using your computer the way you already do.
How It Works
TheFlashMate runs quietly in your system tray. Once started, it displays a transparent text overlay on top of every other window. The content rotates automatically at intervals you control, and a built-in spaced repetition algorithm decides which items you need to see and when — based on how well you know each one.
You can pause, skip, go back, or switch learning modes from the tray menu at any time. All your data syncs securely to the cloud with end-to-end encryption, so your progress follows you across devices.

Create your own decks for any subject — exam prep, medical terms, programming concepts, or anything else you want to memorise. The SRS algorithm schedules reviews at the optimal moment.
Language Learning
A built-in vocabulary database with thousands of English words organised by CEFR level (A1–C2), each with translations in multiple languages including Danish and Spanish. Choose structured CEFR-based progression or free learning.
To-Do List
Keep your tasks visible as a transparent overlay so you never lose sight of what needs to be done today.
Motivational Quotes
A rotating stream of inspiring quotes to keep you motivated throughout the day. No repeats until every quote has been shown.
Fun Facts
Discover interesting facts from science, history, nature, and more — one at a time while you work.
Privacy & Security
Your data belongs to you. All synchronisation between your device and our servers uses AES-256 encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation. Local credentials are stored using Windows DPAPI, and application updates are verified with cryptographic signatures before installation.
We don't sell your data, we don't run ads inside the app, and we don't track your browsing. TheFlashMate connects to the internet only for account authentication, cloud sync, and update checks — nothing more.
